Across Essex as a whole, the average sold price sits at £357,476, though this varies a great deal between the New Town housing stock of Harlow, the city centre and suburbs of Chelmsford, and the London-adjacent commuter towns of Loughton and Waltham Abbey. We don't yet have reliable town-by-town figures for every area we cover, so individual town pages use this county-wide figure as an honest fallback where needed. Nationally, the average UK house price rose 1.4% over the year to July 2026, with the East of England slightly ahead of that at £337,518.
