Straight answers about cost, insurance, booking and more — before you ever need to call.
If you've been searching for a removal company near you and want straight answers before you call, these are the questions we're asked most — by customers across Hertfordshire, Essex and North London.
It depends on the size of your home, the distance of the move, access at both ends, how much packing you need, and the time of year. We don't give ballpark figures over the phone — see our guide to what affects the cost of your move for the real factors, then book a free home visit for a figure you can actually rely on.
Because a phone or online quote is a guess. A senior consultant walking your property in person is the only way to price your move accurately — stairs, parking, items that need dismantling, and how much you actually own all affect the price, and none of that is visible over the phone.
Yes — it's free, with no obligation, whether you book with us or not.
We can, though most of our clients prefer an in-person visit since it's simply more thorough. If a video call genuinely suits you better, just mention it when you enquire and we'll arrange it.
Yes — a £200 deposit secures your confirmed moving date.
If your booking is still tentative, there's no cancellation fee at all. Once your date is confirmed, a cancellation fee applies if you cancel within 7 days of that date.
Public Liability Insurance (covering damage to the property itself) and £100,000 Goods in Transit insurance (covering your belongings while they're with us), as standard on every move. See our insurance & protection page for the full explanation.
Report it to the Herts & Essex office and we'll deal with it directly — our goods-in-transit cover exists for exactly this reason.
We don't ask you to value or itemise your belongings before your move — there's no pre-move valuation process. If anything is ever damaged, it's assessed and dealt with at that point under our standard Goods in Transit cover.
Yes — whether you're packing yourself or using our full or part packing service, quality materials matched to what you own are part of the job.
Either. Our packing service can cover your whole home or just the rooms and items you'd rather hand over — kitchens and fragile items are the most common partial-pack requests.
Usually not for most furniture, but it's worth asking your consultant during the home visit — it depends on the weight and how far items need to travel.
There's no minimum or maximum storage term — our containerised storage flexes around your timeline, whether that's a few weeks between moves or much longer.
Your items are packed into containers in front of you and sealed with unique seals that stay intact until delivery, protecting against dust and pests such as moths and woodworm. Furniture is only handled twice — once going in, once coming out.
Routine access isn't available while items are in storage. For essential, time-sensitive circumstances — needing a passport, for example — we can arrange access with 3 days' notice and a small access fee.
We handle international removals to over 145 countries. See our international removals page for more, or book an international home visit to discuss your destination specifically.
It varies significantly by destination and shipping method (sea freight vs. air freight). Your consultant will give you a realistic timeframe for your specific destination during your home visit.
See our How It Works page for the full step-by-step — in short, a uniformed crew who already know your plan (because your consultant briefed them) arrive, load, transport and unload with items placed in the rooms you specify.
The consultant who visits your home plans and coordinates your move from start to finish. Our uniformed crew, fully briefed on your plan beforehand, carries out the move itself.
As soon as your moving date is confirmed, ideally — especially if you're moving in summer, when demand is highest. Booking early gives you the best choice of dates.
